Merkintäoikeus
Merkintäoikeus, often translated as the right of pre-emption or pre-emptive right, is a legal concept that grants a party a priority to purchase a specific asset under certain conditions. This right typically arises in the context of property ownership or shares in a company. Essentially, it means that if the owner decides to sell the asset, they must first offer it to the holder of the merkintäoikeus on the same terms and conditions as they would offer it to a third-party buyer. The holder of the right then has a specified period to decide whether to exercise their pre-emptive right and purchase the asset.
