Membranschichten, often translated as membrane layers or stratifications, refers to the layered structure found in various biological and artificial membranes. In biological contexts, the cell membrane is a prime example, composed primarily of a phospholipid bilayer. This bilayer has hydrophilic heads facing outwards and inwards, interacting with the aqueous environment, and hydrophobic tails facing each other in the interior, creating a barrier.
