Mellandatabaser
Mellandatabaser are databases used as intermediaries in data processing pipelines. They sit between operational databases (OLTP systems) and analytics or reporting systems (data warehouses or data marts). Data is extracted from source systems, loaded into mellandatabaser, transformed and cleansed, and then moved on to downstream stores. Mellandatabaser can be temporary or persist as semi-permanent stores, depending on the use case.
Purposes include decoupling source systems from analytical workloads, reconciling schema and data quality differences, and enabling
Typical characteristics: a mellandatabas may be normalized or partially denormalized, optimized for write-heavy ingestion and read
Design considerations include volumes, latency requirements, and governance. The choice between a dedicated mellandatabas or multi-purpose
With proper design, mellandatabaser improve data quality, provide fault isolation between systems, and speed up analytics
