Maxillaa is a fictional genus of small, jaw-bearing marine invertebrates introduced in a contemporary world-building framework to illustrate convergent evolution of feeding structures. In this context, Maxillaa is placed in a provisional family, Maxillidae, and an order, Maxilliformes, solely for educational and narrative purposes. Etymology and taxonomy: The name combines the Latin maxilla (jawbone) with the suffix -aa to denote a taxon distinguished by forward-projecting, plate-like jaw structures. The classification is fictional and not intended to correspond to real biological groups.
