Mattomats

Mattomats are a type of absorbent matting primarily used in commercial and industrial settings. They are designed to capture and contain spills and leaks, particularly those involving oils, greases, and other liquids. The construction of mattomats typically involves multiple layers of material, with a highly absorbent core sandwiched between a liquid-impermeant backing and a permeable top layer. This design prevents absorbed liquids from seeping through to the surface below while allowing spills to be drawn into the mat.

These mats are often made from synthetic fibers, such as polypropylene, which are effective at absorbing hydrocarbons but repel water. This selective absorbency makes them ideal for environments where oil spills are a concern, but water is also present. Mattomats are available in various sizes and formats, including rolls, pads, and socks, allowing them to be used for different applications, from covering large floor areas to protecting specific equipment or machinery. They are considered a disposable product and are replaced once they have reached their absorbency capacity. Their use contributes to workplace safety by reducing slip hazards and helping to maintain a cleaner working environment.
