Massamuistityypit refers to different ways in which information is stored and retrieved in the human memory system. These distinctions are crucial for understanding how learning, memory formation, and recall function.

One primary distinction is between sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory. Sensory memory is a fleeting buffer that holds incoming sensory information for a very brief period, allowing the brain to process it further. This is further divided into episodic memory, which stores personal experiences, and semantic memory, which stores general knowledge and facts. Implicit or non-declarative memory, on the other hand, involves unconscious learning and retrieval of skills and habits, such as riding a bicycle or playing a musical instrument.
