Mamikonyan
Mamikonyan, also transliterated Mamikonian (Armenian: Մամիկոնյան), is the name of one of the most prominent Armenian noble families. Active from late antiquity through the early medieval period, the Mamikonyans were among the leading nakharars (noble houses) of Greater Armenia and frequently supplied the Armenian army’s top commander, the sparapet. Through the Arsacid era and into the feudal period, members of the family held hereditary estates and exercised significant military and political influence, often acting as power brokers in the Armenian highlands and at the court.
