Makromolekulák refers to macromolecules, which are very large molecules, often polymers, composed of repeating structural units. In biology, the four major classes of macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates, such as starch and cellulose, are primarily involved in energy storage and structural support. Lipids, including fats and oils, are important for energy storage, cell membrane structure, and signaling. These large molecules are typically formed through a process called polymerization, where smaller subunits, known as monomers, are linked together. For example, amino acids are the monomers that link to form proteins, and nucleotides form nucleic acids.
