Majandusnäitajad, or economic indicators, are statistics about economic activity. They are used by governments, businesses, and investors to understand the current state of the economy and to forecast future trends. These indicators can be broadly categorized into leading, lagging, and coincident indicators.

Leading indicators tend to change before the rest of the economy changes. Examples include new orders for durable goods, building permits, and stock prices. They are watched closely because they can signal future economic shifts.

Lagging indicators change after the economy has already changed. They are useful for confirming trends that have already occurred. Examples include the unemployment rate and inflation.

Coincident indicators move at roughly the same time as the economy. They provide a snapshot of the current economic situation. Examples include industrial production and personal income.

Key economic indicators in Estonia include GDP (Gross Domestic Product), inflation rate, unemployment rate, trade balance, and consumer confidence. GDP is the total value of goods and services produced in a country. Inflation measures the rate at which prices are rising. The unemployment rate shows the percentage of the labor force that is unemployed. The trade balance is the difference between a country's exports and imports. Consumer confidence reflects how optimistic consumers are about the economy.

Analyzing these indicators helps policymakers make informed decisions about fiscal and monetary policy, businesses to plan their strategies, and investors to make investment choices.
