Magmiseen

Magmiseen is a Finnish adjective meaning magmatic or pertaining to magma. In geology and related sciences, it is used to describe rocks, processes, and features that originate from molten rock within the Earth's mantle or crust and crystallize as igneous rocks. The term is common in Finnish-language literature on petrology, volcanology, and tectonics, and helps distinguish magma-related phenomena from other geological processes.

Scope and usage: Magmiseen covers the generation, ascent, emplacement, and solidification of magma, including differentiation by fractional crystallization and assimilation of surrounding material. It applies to both intrusive (plutonic) bodies, formed when magma crystallizes below the surface, and extrusive (volcanic) rocks that erupt at the surface.
