Maaperämyrkyt, known in English as soil toxins or soil poisons, refers to harmful substances that accumulate in the soil, negatively impacting soil organisms, plant life, and potentially entering the food chain. These toxins can originate from various sources, both natural and anthropogenic. Natural sources include certain heavy metals that are naturally present in rock formations, which can be released into the soil over time.
