Maadoitukselliset
Maadoitukselliset is a Finnish term that translates to "grounding" or "earthing" in English. It refers to the process of connecting an electrical circuit or appliance to the earth. This connection is crucial for safety in electrical systems. When a fault occurs, such as a live wire touching the metal casing of an appliance, the earth connection provides a low-resistance path for the current to flow to the ground. This prevents the casing from becoming live and posing a risk of electric shock to anyone who touches it. Without proper grounding, fault current could build up on the appliance's exterior, creating a dangerous situation.
In electrical installations, grounding is achieved through a dedicated earth conductor, often colored green and yellow.
