MLATs
MLAT stands for Multilateration. It is a surveillance technology used to determine the position of an aircraft or vehicle by measuring the time of arrival of signals from that aircraft or vehicle at multiple receiving stations. By knowing the precise location of the receivers and the time it takes for the signal to travel between them, the position of the source can be calculated.
