M109A4

The M109A4 is an upgraded variant of the M109 self-propelled howitzer, a widely used artillery piece developed by the United States. The M109 series has undergone numerous modifications throughout its service life to enhance its capabilities and address evolving battlefield requirements. The A4 designation specifically refers to a set of improvements implemented in the late 1980s and early 1990s, primarily focusing on increased survivability and reliability.

Key upgrades in the M109A4 typically included improvements to the engine and drivetrain for better mobility and reduced maintenance. Enhancements to the armor protection were also a common feature, offering greater resistance to small arms fire and artillery fragments.
