Lämpöruiskutus, also known as thermal spraying, is a group of coating processes in which heated materials are sprayed onto a surface. These heated materials can be in the form of molten droplets, semi-molten particles, or vapor. The coating material, or feedstock, is typically in a powder, wire, or rod form. The heat source can be a combustion flame, an electric arc, or plasma. As the feedstock is introduced into the heat source, it melts and is accelerated towards the substrate. Upon impact, the particles rapidly cool and solidify, building up a coating layer by layer.
