Lykaean

This mountain was a significant religious site in antiquity, dedicated to Zeus Lykaios, a chthonic aspect of the god Zeus. According to legend, King Lykaon of Arcadia transformed into a wolf on Mount Lykaion as a punishment from Zeus for an impious act, giving rise to the myth of lycanthropy.
