Lusitana
Lusitana is a term that can refer to several related concepts, primarily associated with the ancient inhabitants and historical region of Lusitania. The Lusitanians were an Iron Age people who inhabited the western Iberian Peninsula, in what is now Portugal and parts of Spain, from at least the 2nd century BCE. They were known for their fierce independence and warrior culture, often clashing with Roman expansion. Viriathus is perhaps the most famous Lusitanian leader, who led a protracted rebellion against Roman rule in the 2nd century BCE.
The term Lusitania also designates the Roman province that was established in the region after its conquest.
