Luftërat

Luftërat, also known as the Albanian Civil War, was a period of conflict in Albania that took place from 1997 to 2001. The war was primarily fought between the Albanian government, supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United States, and the Albanian Liberation Army (ALA), a rebel group led by Ramush Haradinaj. The conflict was marked by intense fighting, with both sides using heavy artillery and rocket-propelled grenades. The war resulted in significant loss of life and displacement of civilians. The conflict ended with the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement in 2001, which established a new government and began the process of rebuilding the country. The war is often cited as a significant factor in the decline of organized crime and corruption in Albania.
