Luftströme, the German word for air currents, refers to the movement of air. This movement can occur on a global scale, such as the jet stream, or on a much smaller scale, like the breeze felt on a warm day. The primary driver of air currents is differences in air pressure, which are themselves caused by variations in temperature. Warmer air is less dense and rises, creating areas of lower pressure, while cooler air is denser and sinks, leading to areas of higher pressure. Air naturally flows from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure, thus initiating air currents.
