Lthyroxín
Lthyroxín is the active hormone produced by the thyroid gland, also known as thyroxine or T4. It is a crucial hormone in regulating metabolism in virtually every cell in the body. Lthyroxín plays a vital role in growth and development, particularly in children, and influences heart rate, body temperature, and energy expenditure. The production of Lthyroxín is regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) from the pituitary gland, which in turn is influenced by thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) from the hypothalamus. This feedback loop ensures that the body maintains appropriate levels of thyroid hormone. A deficiency in Lthyroxín can lead to hypothyroidism, a condition characterized by a slowed metabolism, fatigue, weight gain, and cold intolerance. Conversely, an excess of Lthyroxín causes hyperthyroidism, resulting in a sped-up metabolism, weight loss, rapid heart rate, and heat intolerance. Synthetic Lthyroxín is widely used as a medication to treat hypothyroidism and other thyroid-related conditions, helping to restore normal metabolic function.
