Lontroan is a fictional cultural and linguistic designation used in a fantasy world setting. It refers to the inhabitants of the Lontroa Archipelago, a chain of eight principal islands and numerous islets in the eastern sea of the continent of Valara. The name Lontroan derives from the archipelago’s largest island, Lontro, and is the term used by outsiders; the people themselves refer to their homeland as the Lontroa Isles.

Geography and population

The archipelago features coastal plains, mangrove estuaries, and mountainous interior regions. Major settlements cluster along protected harbours on Lontro and two nearby islands, with smaller communities scattered across the archipelago. Lontroans number in the tens of thousands, with communities organized around kinship ties and shared maritime livelihoods.

History
