Lihapyörykät

Lihapyörykät, meaning "meatballs" in Finnish, is a common and popular dish in Finnish cuisine. They are typically made from minced meat, often a mixture of beef and pork, though variations can include lamb or even poultry. The meat is seasoned with ingredients such as finely chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs or cooked rice, salt, and pepper. Some recipes also call for milk or cream to be added for moisture and richness.

The mixture is then rolled into small, round balls. Lihapyörykät are usually pan-fried until browned and cooked through, or sometimes baked. They are a versatile dish and can be served in a variety of ways. A classic Finnish preparation involves serving them with a creamy brown sauce, often called "kermakastike," which is made from the pan drippings, flour, broth, and cream.
