LiIonenSysteme refers to battery systems that utilize lithium ions as the charge carriers. These batteries are a type of rechargeable electrochemical energy storage device. The fundamental principle of operation involves the movement of lithium ions between the positive (cathode) and negative (anode) electrodes during charging and discharging cycles.

During discharge, lithium ions are released from the anode and migrate through an electrolyte to the cathode, releasing electrical energy. During charging, an external voltage forces the lithium ions to move back from the cathode to the anode, storing energy. The electrolyte is typically a non-aqueous organic solvent containing dissolved lithium salts, which facilitates ion transport. Common anode materials include graphite, while cathode materials can be various lithium metal oxides such as lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2), lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4), or lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4).
