Leuchtenberg

Leuchtenberg is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria, Germany. It is located in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Regensburg. The town is situated on the Waldnaab river and is surrounded by the scenic landscapes of the Oberpfälzer Wald.

Historically, Leuchtenberg was the site of a significant medieval castle, Burg Leuchtenberg, which was once the seat of the powerful Landgraves of Leuchtenberg. The castle ruins, though largely destroyed, still stand and offer views of the surrounding area. The settlement that grew around the castle eventually became the modern town.
