Lepicí

Lepicí is a Czech adjective meaning adhesive or related to gluing, derived from the verb lepit, “to glue” or “to paste.” It is used to describe substances, materials and processes that create a bond between surfaces, as well as products designed to attach or join objects. In everyday language the term appears in compound names such as lepicí páska (adhesive tape) and lepicí hmota (adhesive material).

Common lepicí products include lepidla (adhesives) and lepicí pásky (adhesive tapes). Lepidla can be classified by base chemistry, such as disperzní lepidla (dispersions like PVA glue), kontaktní lepidla (contact adhesives), epoxidová lepidla (epoxy), polyuretanová lepidla (polyurethane) and hot-melt lepidla (hot glue). Other forms include silikonová and other specialty adhesives tailored for wood, metal, plastic or textiles. Lepicí pistole refers to a glue gun used to apply hot-melt adhesives. Pásky may be vinyl, papírové (paper), dvojitě lepící (double-sided) or jiné speciální pásky.

Applications of lepicí materials span packaging, construction, furniture assembly, electronics, automotive and arts and crafts. The choice of adhesive or tape depends on required bond strength, flexibility, cure or drying time, temperature and moisture resistance, substrate material compatibility, and whether a permanent or removable bond is desired. Safety and handling vary by product; many adhesives require good ventilation and proper storage away from heat or direct sunlight. In language use, lepicí also describes the broader concept of sticking or adhering, beyond specific products.
