Lennep

Lennep is a locality and historic town in western Germany. It is now a district of the city of Remscheid in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Located in the Bergisches Land, Lennep lies along the Wupper river, roughly 20 to 25 kilometers northeast of Düsseldorf and within the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan area.

The town has medieval origins and developed as a local trading and crafts center due to its position in the Wupper valley. It remained an independent municipality until the 20th century, when administrative reforms incorporated it into Remscheid. The former town center preserves elements of its historic fabric, including a market square and several traditional buildings.

In the present day, Lennep functions as a district of Remscheid with its own townscape identity.
