Lendl

Lendl is a surname of Czech origin. The most prominent bearer is Ivan Lendl, a former professional tennis player who dominated men's tennis in the 1980s.

Born January 7, 1960, in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, Lendl turned pro in 1978 and defected to the United States in 1981. He became a US citizen in 1992 and competed for Czechoslovakia early in his career before representing the United States in later years.
