Laserseakersystemer, often referred to as laser seekers or laser-guided systems, are a type of terminal guidance system used in munitions. These systems enable weapons such as bombs, missiles, and rockets to home in on a target that has been illuminated by a laser designator. The seeker unit within the munition detects the reflected laser energy from the target and uses this information to adjust its flight path. The laser designator can be operated by ground troops, aircraft, or even the munition itself in some advanced systems.

The process typically begins with a laser designator, which emits a coded laser beam onto the target. This beam is invisible to the human eye but is detected by the laser seeker in the weapon. The seeker contains sensors that are sensitive to the specific wavelength and code of the laser light. As the munition approaches the target, the seeker continuously tracks the laser spot. Its internal guidance system then commands control surfaces on the munition to steer it towards the source of the reflected laser energy. This allows for highly precise strikes, minimizing collateral damage. Laser-guided munitions are effective against a wide range of fixed and moving targets.
