Lanoss

Lanoss is a fictional planet located in the Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. It is characterized by a predominantly arid landscape, with vast deserts and sparse vegetation. The planet experiences extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night due to its thin atmosphere.

The dominant life forms on Lanoss are silicon-based organisms known as the Xylos. The Xylos are a resilient species adapted to the harsh conditions of their homeworld. They possess a unique biological structure that allows them to absorb moisture from the atmosphere and survive prolonged periods without water. Their society is organized into nomadic tribes, each following ancient migratory routes in search of scarce resources.

Lanoss has a single, small moon that exerts a significant tidal influence on the planet's few liquid bodies, primarily underground aquifers. The planet's geology is marked by extensive mineral deposits, attracting interstellar mining corporations. However, these operations are often met with resistance from the Xylos, who consider the extraction of resources a desecration of their sacred lands. Diplomatic relations between off-world entities and the Xylos remain complex and often strained.
