The second Lamech is a descendant of Seth, through Noah. He is the father of Noah, the builder of the Ark. This Lamech is described as living 777 years, and his birth is presented as a significant event that brought "solace" or "rest" to humanity, connecting to the meaning of his son Noah's name.

The repetition of the name Lamech in such distinct genealogical lines and the contrasting characters associated with them have led to various interpretations among biblical scholars.
