Lagringsskivor

Lagringsskivor (also known as hard drive platters or disk platters) are a crucial component in traditional hard disk drives (HDDs). A lagringsskiva is the circular disk that stores data on a magnetic coating. This technology relies on the rotation of the platter to read and write data, which is accessed by a magnetic head.

The lagringsskiva is made from a thin layer of metal, typically aluminum or glass, which is polished to a high finish to provide a smooth surface. The magnetic coating layer on top of the base metal is typically made of cobalt, chromium, or other similar compounds. This layer contains tiny magnetic particles that can be magnetized in one of two ways, allowing data to be recorded and stored.
