LQRn

LqRn refers to a conceptual framework and experimental platform in the field of quantum networking aimed at enabling low-latency transmission of quantum information across metropolitan-scale distances. The term describes architectures that couple quantum relays with fast classical control channels to minimize end-to-end delay while preserving quantum coherence.

The acronym is not standardized and appears in multiple contexts. In some descriptions it is treated as a subset of quantum repeater networks optimized for reduced latency, while in others it is used as a branding for interoperable testbeds that integrate fiber and free-space links with dedicated routing software.

Core components typically referenced in LqRn designs include photon sources, quantum memories, entanglement swapping stations, and high-speed detectors, together with a real-time classical network for coordination and scheduling. The design goal is to achieve sub-millisecond to millisecond end-to-end latency over city-scale distances, with fidelity thresholds sufficient for quantum key distribution or distributed sensing.

Current research is largely at the laboratory or pilot-field stage, with several groups reporting prototype nodes and small networks. Main challenges include optical losses, memory coherence times, precise synchronization, and the need for standard interfaces to enable cross-vendor interoperability.
