Läbitavad

Läbitavad is the Estonian adjective used to describe something that allows the passage of substances or energy. The plural form läbitavad is used when referring to multiple objects that share this property, while the singular läbitav describes a single item. In scientific and technical contexts, the noun läbitavus denotes permeability or transmissibility.

In geology and hydrology, läbitavus refers to how easily water or air moves through soil and rock. Soils and materials with high läbitavus enable quicker infiltration and groundwater flow, whereas lowläbitav or more compact layers impede movement. In materials science and engineering, läbitavad materials include porous ceramics, membranes, and breathable textiles, where pore size, geometry, and connectivity determine which substances can pass and at what rate.

In biology, poolläbitav or semi-permeable membranes describe barriers that allow selective passage of certain molecules, a key principle in cellular function.
