Láncpáncélzat is a type of armor composed of interlocking metal rings. These rings are typically made of steel or iron and are joined together in a specific pattern, creating a flexible yet protective fabric. The construction method varies, with common types including riveted, butted, and solid rings. Riveted mail involves each ring being riveted shut, offering superior protection but requiring more labor. Butted mail has rings that are simply closed and not riveted, making it easier to produce but less durable. Solid mail is made from individual rings that are forged and then linked.

This type of armor was widely used throughout the medieval period in Europe and the Middle East. It was effective against slashing and piercing attacks, as the rings would distribute the force of the blow across a larger area. However, láncpáncélzat offered less protection against blunt force trauma, such as that from a mace or hammer. The weight of full mail armor could also be considerable, affecting the wearer's mobility and endurance.
