Külgetõmbejõus

Külgetõmbejõus, more commonly known as gravity, is a fundamental force of nature that attracts any two objects with mass. This force is responsible for keeping planets in orbit around stars, holding galaxies together, and causing objects to fall to the ground when dropped. The strength of gravity depends on the masses of the objects involved and the distance between them. More massive objects exert a stronger gravitational pull, and the force weakens significantly as the distance increases.

The concept of gravity was famously described by Sir Isaac Newton in his law of universal gravitation. Newton proposed that every particle of matter in the universe attracts every other particle with a force. This force is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. Albert Einstein later provided a more comprehensive understanding with his theory of general relativity, which describes gravity not as a force but as a curvature of spacetime caused by mass and energy.

In everyday experience, gravity is what gives objects weight. The Earth's gravitational pull on an object is what we perceive as its weight. While gravity is a universal force, its effects are most noticeable in large celestial bodies due to their immense masses. Understanding gravity is crucial in fields ranging from astrophysics and cosmology to engineering and everyday physics.
