Käivituksid
Käivituksid refers to the Estonian word for "starters" or "ignition systems," primarily in the context of internal combustion engines. A starter is an electric motor that turns the engine's crankshaft to initiate the combustion process. Without a starter, engines would require manual cranking, a method largely obsolete for most modern vehicles. The starter motor typically receives power from the vehicle's battery and engages with a flywheel or flexplate attached to the engine's crankshaft. When the ignition key is turned or a start button is pressed, the starter motor is activated, spinning the engine until it can sustain its own operation. This engagement is usually temporary, disengaging once the engine starts running. Variations exist depending on the engine type and size, with larger engines often requiring more powerful starter motors. The function of a käivitus is crucial for the convenient and immediate operation of vehicles and other engine-powered machinery.
