Kuuympäristön refers to the environment of the Moon. This includes its physical characteristics and conditions. The Moon has no significant atmosphere, which means it experiences extreme temperature variations between its sunlit and shadowed sides. Daytime temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures can plummet to below -150 degrees Celsius. The lack of atmosphere also means there is no protection from solar radiation or micrometeoroid impacts.

The lunar surface is covered in regolith, a layer of fine dust and rock fragments created by billions of years of meteorite bombardment. This regolith is abrasive and sticky due to electrostatic charges. Gravity on the Moon is about one-sixth of Earth's gravity, which affects the behavior of any objects or organisms present. The Moon also has a weak magnetic field, which offers little protection from solar wind. Due to the absence of liquid water and a substantial atmosphere, the Moon is considered a barren and desolate environment.
