Kubbs

Kubbs is a lawn game that originated in Sweden. It is sometimes referred to as "Swedish bowling." The game is played with two teams of two to six players. The objective is to knock down all of the opponent's wooden blocks, called "kubbs," before they knock down yours.

The game is played on a rectangular field, typically grass, with a size of 5 meters wide by 10 meters long. At each end of the field, five kubbs are placed upright, evenly spaced. In the center of each end, a larger block called the "king" is placed. Teams take turns throwing six wooden batons, called "kastpinnar," at the opposing team's kubbs.

Players throw the kastpinnar underhand, from behind their baseline. The first team to knock down all of the opponent's standing kubbs, and then the king, wins the game. There are various strategies and rules regarding how kubbs are thrown, including the introduction of "field kubbs" which are thrown by the opposing team after being knocked down. Kubbs is a popular game for outdoor gatherings and picnics.
