Kstutis
Kęstutis, also written as Kestutis (c. 1297–1382), was a Lithuanian noble and a key political and military leader in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. A son of Gediminas, he and his younger brother Algirdas dominated Lithuanian affairs after Gediminas’s death, effectively ruling the state together from about 1345. Their leadership helped expand Lithuanian influence into western and southern lands, incorporating areas that are today part of Belarus and Ukraine, and they played a major role in defending Lithuania against the Teutonic Knights.
