Kreutzwald
Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald (1803–1882) was an Estonian writer, translator and folklorist who played a central role in the Estonian national awakening. He is best known for compiling Kalevipoeg, the Estonian national epic, from traditional Estonian folk songs and legends. The first edition of Kalevipoeg appeared in 1857, and later editions expanded and annotated the text, solidifying its place in Estonian culture.
