Kreditupplysning is a report about the creditworthiness of a person or a business, compiled by a kreditupplysningsföretag in Sweden. The report is used by lenders, rental agencies, telecom operators and other service providers to assess risk when deciding whether to extend credit or offer services.

The information in a kreditupplysning typically includes identifying details such as name, address and personnummer, as well as the subject’s credit history. This can cover previous and current loans, credit cards, repayments, delinquencies and any defaults. The file may also include inquiries from creditors and, where applicable, information from public records about insolvencies or debt collection measures. Data are collected from financial institutions, utility companies and other data sources, and are stored by the credit information company (kreditupplysningsföretag) and shared with authorized users.

Access to kreditupplysningar is restricted to entities with a legitimate business need, such as banks, lenders, landlords, telecom providers and insurers.
