Konverterest

Konverterest is a term used in data processing and data migration to denote the portion of input data that cannot be successfully converted to the target format during a transformation step. It can be measured as a count of records or as a percentage of the total input and is the complement to the conversion rate.

Calculation and interpretation: konverterest = (unconverted_records / total_records) × 100%. A lower konverterest indicates more complete and accurate data transformation, while a higher value points to data quality issues or misaligned schemas.

Usage and handling: In ETL pipelines and data migrations, konverterest helps quantify data quality problems and guides cleansing and remediation. High konverterest often signals invalid formats, missing mandatory fields, or unsupported data types. Common responses include improving input validation, expanding mapping rules, adding data-type conversions, or routing problematic records to a quarantine area for manual review.

Example: During a migration of 100,000 customer records, 92,000 are converted successfully. The konverterest is 8,000 / 100,000 = 8%. The 8% may be investigated for data cleansing or schema adjustments.

Notes: Konverterest is not a formal, standardized term in most data-management glossaries; some teams use conversion failure rate or unconverted data rate. Terminology varies by organization and domain.
