Kontrafagott
The contrabassoon, known in German as the Kontrafagott, is a large double-reed woodwind instrument. It is the lowest pitched instrument in the standard orchestral woodwind family and provides the deep bass register. In most modern ensembles it is pitched in F and sounds an octave below the bassoon.
