Konjugáltja

Konjugáltja is a Hungarian term that denotes the conjugate of a given object, used across several fields to refer to the corresponding “conjugated” form or partner. In everyday mathematical and scientific language it functions as a noun meaning “its conjugate.”

In mathematics, konjugáltja often refers to the complex conjugate of a complex number. If z = a + bi, then its konjugáltja is z̄ = a − bi. The conjugate is obtained by changing the sign of the imaginary part. The concept also extends to matrices, where the konjugált transzponált (Hermitian transpose) A^H is formed by taking the complex conjugate of each entry and then transposing the matrix. In algebra and analysis, the idea of a konjugáltja generalizes to elements related by an involution or complex conjugation.

In linguistics, konjugáltja can describe a conjugated form of a verb or other inflecting word, i.e., the specific form that a verb takes to express tense, mood, person or number. The term emphasizes the relationship between the base form and its inflected variant.

In chemistry and related fields, the term konjugált can describe conjugated systems or conjugate acid–base pairs. While “konjugáltja” is less common in these technical writings, the construction can be used to refer to the conjugate species corresponding to a given substance, such as a conjugate acid of a base.
