Konfidensmått

Konfidensmått, or confidence measures, are statistical concepts used to quantify the uncertainty associated with an estimate or a prediction. In essence, they provide a range within which a true value is likely to lie, based on the available data. The most common form is the confidence interval, which is an interval estimate of a population parameter. For example, a 95% confidence interval means that if we were to repeat the sampling process many times, 95% of the calculated intervals would contain the true population parameter. It is crucial to understand that a confidence interval does not state the probability that the true parameter falls within a specific calculated interval. Instead, it reflects the reliability of the method used to generate the interval. Konfidensmått are vital in various fields, including scientific research, market analysis, and quality control, allowing for informed decision-making by acknowledging and quantifying inherent variability. Other forms of konfidensmått exist, but the confidence interval remains the most widely applied.
