In a parallel connection, capacitors are connected across each other, providing multiple paths for current. The total capacitance of capacitors in parallel is the sum of the individual capacitances. The voltage rating of the parallel combination is limited by the lowest individual voltage rating. This method is employed to increase the total capacitance of the circuit, allowing it to store more charge. Hybrid configurations, combining both series and parallel groupings, are also common to achieve specific capacitance and voltage ratings. The choice of grouping depends on the desired outcome in terms of energy storage, voltage tolerance, and frequency response within the electrical system.
