Konakçy

Konakçy is a Turkic linguistic term used in Turkmen and related languages to denote a person connected with a konak, typically a house, mansion, or guesthouse. The word functions as an agent noun, meaning someone who operates, manages, or resides in such a building.

Etymology: It is formed from konak, meaning “house” or “residence,” with the agentive suffix -çy. It is cognate with Turkish konakçı and related terms in other Turkic languages.

In traditional Turkmen society, a konakçy could be the owner or keeper of a konak, responsible for maintenance, hospitality, and the supervision of staff who tended to guests and travelers passing through.
