Kompostimisüksused, or composting units, are structures or containers designed to facilitate the decomposition of organic waste. These units can range from simple open piles to elaborate enclosed bins with mechanisms for aeration and moisture control. The primary purpose of a composting unit is to create an environment conducive to the work of microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi, which break down materials like food scraps, yard waste, and paper products into a nutrient-rich soil amendment known as compost.
Different types of composting units cater to various needs and scales of composting. For instance, backyard
