Kompleksväetised, also known as compound fertilizers, are agricultural chemicals that contain two or more essential plant nutrients in a single granule. Unlike straight fertilizers which provide only one nutrient, complex fertilizers offer a balanced supply of multiple nutrients, simplifying application and ensuring more uniform distribution in the soil. The primary nutrients typically found in complex fertilizers include nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), often referred to as NPK. Other secondary nutrients like sulfur (S), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg), as well as micronutrients such as zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn), can also be incorporated.

The production of complex fertilizers involves manufacturing processes that chemically combine the nutrients. This is often achieved through granulation, where raw materials containing the desired nutrients are mixed and then processed into uniform granules. This method ensures that each granule contains the specified ratio of nutrients, preventing segregation during handling and application. The ratio of nutrients is typically indicated by an NPK number, for example, 15-15-15, meaning the fertilizer contains 15% nitrogen, 15% phosphorus, and 15% potassium by weight.

Complex fertilizers are widely used in agriculture and horticulture to improve crop yields and quality. They provide plants with a readily available source of essential nutrients, supporting healthy growth, root development, flowering, and fruiting. Their use can also contribute to more efficient nutrient uptake by plants and reduce the labor and equipment needed for applying multiple single-nutrient fertilizers. The specific formulation of a complex fertilizer is chosen based on soil analysis, crop requirements, and the desired growth stage of the plant.
