Kompaktilamppu, commonly known as a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), is a type of fluorescent lamp designed to fit into standard light sockets, replacing incandescent bulbs. It operates on the same principle as traditional fluorescent tubes, utilizing an electric current to excite mercury vapor, which then produces ultraviolet light. This UV light strikes a phosphor coating on the inside of the glass tube, causing it to emit visible light.
